Obituary of Judy Langer

Judith “Judy” Langer, 77, of Peoria, departed this life, with her family by her side, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born on January 18, 1948, to Max and Betty (Williams) Langer, she grew up in Chicago with her younger brother, Karl. The family moved to Downers Grove, where she met her former husband. After she kicked that schmuck out, Judy raised three children as a single mother: Rachel (11) and twins, Holly and Heather (2), on her own.

She was a strong, independent woman who worked as an accountant in a male-dominated work force to make ends meet. Despite the long hours and drudgery, Judy did what she could to support her daughters’ goals and dreams. Throughout the tumultuous times, Judy always made sure dinner was made, homework was completed, and that her daughters knew they were loved unconditionally.

Judy’s passions in life included theater and sewing. She appeared in several community theater productions, including performances at the historic Woodstock Opera House. Judy’s talent as a seamstress led her to open her own dress-making business, from which she happily retired in 2022.

Judy fiercely loved her grandchildren and her cockapoo, Emily. She was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’ s Research Hospital.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Rachel (Todd) Anderson of Twin Lakes, Holly (James) Titone of Peoria; and Heather (Chuck) Slifka of Aurora; five grandchildren, Molly Anderson, Lilly Titone, Isabella Titone, Jackson Slifka, and Jeremy Slifka.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family. In accordance with Judy's wishes, no services will be held.
