Obituary of Christopher M. Pechota

Christopher M. Pechota, 50, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

Chris was born on April 27, 1975, in Rosebud, South Dakota, son of Gary and Julie Pechota. He was raised with strong family values and graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School in 1994. During his school years, Chris was known for his natural athleticism and competitive spirit, qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.

Chris will be remembered most for his charismatic personality and the kindness he showed to others. He had a gift for connecting with people, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a word of encouragement. He had a deep love for sports, especially cheering on Duke basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs, rarely missing a game and sharing that passion with those around him. He also enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course.

He worked as a security guard at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, where his friendly nature and sense of responsibility made a lasting impression on both coworkers and visitors.

Chris’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Olivia (Carter) Frederick; his son, Brayden Pfeiffer; his mother, Julie Pechota (Jim); his sister, Mary “Kati” Pechota; his nephew, Aidan Weller; his brother, Jason Williams; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Weidensee; his uncle and aunt, Dave and Jacki Weidensee; his uncle Terry Pechota; his uncle Derek Weidensee; and cousins, Todd, Dominic, Alec, Tovi, Mariah, Mackenzie, Gabby, Jason, and Alex.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Pechota; grandparents, Frank and Leona Pechota; grandfather, Victor Weidensee; and aunt and uncle, Tonna and Mack Cox.

Chris will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his warmth, humor, and the genuine way he cared for others. His generous spirit continues in his final act as an organ donor, giving the gift of life and hope to others.

Chris will be laid to rest in Colome, South Dakota. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
