Obituary of Matthew Warren Deissler

Matthew W. Deissler, 64, of Pekin, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2026.  He was born on October 19, 1961, in Peoria, Illinois to Christian and Sandra (Clark) Deissler.

Matthew is survived by his father, Christian (Jewell) Deissler; his stepfather, Bill Ricci; his sister, Ginger Deissler; his brother, Michael Deissler; and his sister, Dena (Kent) Ogden.  He is also survived by many beloved extended family members and dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Ricci.  

Matt graduated from East Peoria Community High School and was most recently employed at Hanley Steel Inc. in Peoria, Illinois.  He was deeply thankful for the support, encouragement, and friendship of his boss, Pete Hanley. 

Matt never met a stranger.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he was a devoted animal lover.  Over the years, he cared for many pets and was known for keeping food and treats on hand not only for his own animals, but also for neighboring pets. 

Cremation rites have been accorded. Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family.
