Obituary of Ann B. Dintzis

Ann “Annie” Bethiah Dintzis, 85, of Peoria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Annie was born in Scarborough, England, on April 6, 1941, to John and Lilian (Ellis) Nicholson. She met the love of her life, Frederick R. Dintzis, in Oxford, England, in 1964, while he was conducting postdoctoral work. They married in Los Angeles, California, on October 1, 1965, and enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are her two children, Susannah (Peter Alahi) Dintzis of Dunlap and Jonathan (Marta Inéz) Dintzis of Bogotá, Colombia; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Alahi, Samuel Alahi, and Camila Arévalo Dintzis.

Annie had a long career as a dietitian at Proctor Hospital, where she truly enjoyed caring for those she served and was beloved by colleagues and patients alike.

Annie was happiest while traveling, especially when exploring the world alongside her devoted husband, Fred. Together, they visited many countries, embraced new cultures, collected wonderful experiences, and formed friendships wherever they went. Her curiosity, warmth, and joy in meeting people made each journey meaningful and memorable.Annie will be remembered for her sharp British wit, intelligence, generosity, and compassion for others. She was very proud of her British Heritage.

The family would like to thank the staff at OSF Hospital and Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton for the excellent care Annie received over the last few months.
