Obituary of Michael P. Tallon

Michael (Mike) P. Tallon, 61, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his home. 

Mike was born on October 7, 1964, in Peoria, to Edward J. Jr. and Dorothy M. (Schrodt) Tallon; they both preceded him in death. 

He is survived by his three brothers, Ed (Ellen) Tallon of Morton, Il, Chris (Monique) Tallon of Chesapeake, VA, and Phil (Heather) Tallon of Seminole, FL; and several nieces and nephews. 

Mike graduated from Spalding Institute in 1983, where he excelled at both football and baseball. He received All-Conference honors in both sports and was co-captain of the baseball team in his senior year. Mike went on to play college baseball at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois and briefly at Cal-State Fullerton.  

After his baseball career ended, he lived in southern California for approximately 10 years, going to school and working in the restaurant industry. Mike returned to Peoria and graduated from Bradley University, an accomplishment he cherished.  

Mike was an avid sports fan. He loved all things Notre Dame, especially Irish Football. He supported Bradley University athletics and Illinois football and basketball. He passionately followed the Chicago Bears. Mike’s biggest hobby was either listening to the Jim Mattson radio show or catching Jim’s evening sports broadcast for all local Peoria sports. If you ever tuned into the Jim Mattson radio show, you could regularly hear Jim reading one of Mike's many text messages. 

Mike, who was affectionately known as Bubba to his friends, had an infectious laugh, sense of humor, and personality. He will be sorely missed.   

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum. Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family.
