Obituary of Mark A. Harris
Mark A. Harris, 65, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria with his beloved family at his bedside.
He was born in Peoria on September 28, 1959, to Donald and Helen (Emhoff) Harris.
He married his wife of 28 years, Laurie Starr, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Peoria on May 31, 1997; she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Haley (Adrian) Aziz of Pascagoula, MS, and Karlie (Cody) Stine of Canton, IL; six beloved grandchildren, Jerzie, Jeramiah, Annabelle, Thea, Kodi, and Maverick; two brothers, Roy Harris of Jackson, TX, and Joe Harris of Florida; and one nephew, Brock Harris of Washington, IL.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Scott Harris; and his nephew, Jake Alexander Harris.
Mark had a lifelong passion for carpentry, which was more than just a career—it was a calling. His proudest accomplishment was the home he lovingly built for his wife and daughters, a lasting legacy of his dedication, craftsmanship, and care.
He enjoyed playing pool, golf, horseback riding, and spending time outdoors, but treasured time with his family most of all. He especially loved being a PaPa and was happiest surrounded by his grandchildren.
He shared a special bond with his lifelong best friend and “brother from another mother,” Mick Boles—they shared many great laughs and golf games together over the years.
Mark also had a deep love for his fur babies, Bruno and Copper, who brought him endless comfort and companionship.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services at this time. Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.CSofIL.com.
