Obituary of Ada L. Uphoff

Ada L. Uphoff, 77, of Congerville, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at her home. She was born in Washington, IL on July 28, 1948, to Dale and Mary (Patterson) Baggs. She married her soul mate of 41 years, Ida Hammer, in LeRoy on March 27, 2021; she survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Jill Uphoff of Congerville; her sister, Zona Schneider of Pekin; and her brother, David Hasselman of Missouri.

Ada was always a horse lover. She worked as a mail clerk at the American Shetland Pony Club in Morton, until she and Ida created the Mackinaw Dells 2 Whole Horse Hoof Program. While Ida did the teaching, Ada welcomed each student with open arms. She was well known for her caring and genuine interest in every student. Together, they have shared their knowledge of horses with thousands of people from all over the world.

Ada wasn’t just a horse lover; she had a special bond with her dogs. She will be dearly missed by all 2 and 4 legged beings.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Cremation Specialist of Illinois is assisting the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 27, 2026, in LeRoy at the Farm where she and Ida were married. Details are posted on Facebook under Events.
