Obituary of Robert Allen Abernathy

Robert “Robbie” A. Abernathy, 55, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born in Geneseo on December 12, 1966, to Harold Sr., and Marilyn (Watson) Abernathy. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Abernathy of Peoria; his nephew, Andrew Terrell of Peoria Heights, his niece, Rebecca Abernathy of Bowling Green, MO; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Tresa Abernathy Fox; his 2 brothers, Harold “Hal” Abernathy and Richard “Rich” Abernathy; and one niece. Robert graduated from Peoria Heights High School in 1985 and served in the US Navy aboard the USS New Jersey. He then worked as an EMT and a welder for many years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and collecting baseball cards. Cremation rites have been accorded. Cremation Specialist of Central Illinois is assisting the family.
