Obituary of Mary Catherine Bailey

Mary Catherine Bailey, 81, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Timbercreek Rehab & Health Care in Pekin. She was born on March 15, 1942, in Decatur, to Albert and Elsie Lacher. She married her best friend and husband of 60 years, Charles “Chuck” Bailey, on June 22, 1963, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria; he survives. She is also survived by her son, Michael D. Bailey of LeRoy; and 2 grandchildren, Michael J. and Hannah Bailey. Mary worked in data entry for Chris Hoerr & Son, which became Scribner, and then Fleming, retiring after 35 years. She loved to fish and travel north to Minnesota for the annual family trip. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria and later, St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Cremation Specialist of Central Illinois is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
